The press can’t get enough of 3655 McAnany Way in Malibu.
The combination of the home’s celebrity history and its abundant natural appeal led to a feature in the Wall Street Journal among others. The current owner, Jennifer Johnston-Jones, a internationally acclaimed organizational and entrepreneurial psychologist, recently took Open House TV on a guided tour.
The home’s garden-like setting with over three acres and huge trees everywhere immediately appealed to the family. Jennifer describes the moment she saw the home saying that it they couldn’t believe it when they saw it, wondering: “is this even possible in L.A.?”
The property has a celebrity pedigree. It was built by Olivia Newton-John and later owned by Sally Field. Everyone who has lived in the home has been a nature lover. As Jennifer points out in the video, the sunroom is so open and beautiful there is no need for art. The family room is a central gathering area and opens directly to the pool. The master suite has beautiful vaulted ceilings with decks on both sides.
The wraparound deck encircles the house, giving it the feeling of a nest amid the trees. Jennifer points out that in some places the deck has beautiful 100-year-old oak trees that come directly out of the deck adding to the feeling of enchantment and being truly connected to nature.
The family built the party barn for entertaining and for additional fun they also added the home’s teepee which sits on a deck and has electricity and a heater. It’s used for gathering and luxurious camping.
