When I’m not working, I like to play the piano and walk the trails in Ojai.
I work often with local sellers and international buyers; and I feel honored to be named one of the Top 15 Real Estate Agents in the US by The Wall Street Journal. I’m a Realtor, a Certified Negotiation Expert with Partners Trust, a Graduate of the Realtor Institute, an Accredited Buyer’s Representative, a Certified Residential Specialist and a Credentialed Internet Marketing Specialist.
I enjoy listening to the nuances of the housing market and proactively assisting my clients in navigating its up-to-the-minute conditions!
I spent my early childhood years on a farm in Northeast Missouri and, frankly, I think that Midwestern work-ethic has stayed with me my entire life! Many mornings on the farm, I would wake early to join grandfather for breakfast (he got up at 4:30 and I’d often join him around 5am). The menu always included one final course: neapolitan ice cream. Hey, if you’re going to get up that early, you should make it worthwhile. I liked farm life!
My breakfast encounters might not have unlocked all of the secrets to success, but I guess it provided an essential component to my thriving career in real estate: enjoy it.
The most important thing to me are the relationships I develop. For me, it’s not about the transaction; it’s about the relationship — always. (Thankfully, my clients are like my family-of-choice.) The great thing about developing these deep relationships is that I don’t feel like I go to work. I feel like I go play with my friends. It makes it fun and rewarding and worthwhile.
One thing I’ve noticed about myself in almost three decades as a real estate advisor, is that even when market conditions seem unfavorable, I have a tendency to remain upbeat and focused on connections. When the market shifts (and it’s often shifting), it’s crucial to find a way to adapt to conditions and keep my attitude positive.
The fact is, I strive to make my business about what I can give rather than what’s in it for me. If people sense your motives are pure and your intentions are clean, then developing deep and trusting relationships is easy and natural.
I guess I’m being true to my roots when I confess that I have fantasies about developing my own organic farm someday — or at least a large vegetable garden!
As for neapolitan ice cream: it’s still my favorite.
