As a conscientious and discerning company, giving back has always been important to us. Primarily supporting organizations that address problems in the Los Angeles community, each of our associates contribute to the Partners Trust Charitable Giving Fund via fundraising events and donations. Naturally, when two of our associates heard of the adversity faced by one of our own, it was an easy decision to raise funds.
Originally intended as a team building event between the Pasadena and La Cañada offices, Partners Trust associates held an impromptu fundraiser on June 1 resulting in the collection of more than $10,000.
While coordinating the details of the team building event, the Pasadena team got wind of Administrative Assistant Brian Hill’s 19-month-old daughter, Anya’s liver transplant. Vicky and Jeff Botsford of the Pasadena office advocated for realigning the event as a fundraiser for the surgery. With work from both the Pasadena and La Cañada teams, the event took off.
By donation jar alone, the event collected more than $1,500, which was soon matched by two associates. With a $3,000 donation from the Partners Trust Charitable Giving fund, $1,000 from both the Pasadena and the La Cañada offices, and the sale of donated specially designed t-shirts, the event had soon raised more than $10,000.
La Cañada beat Pasadena by eight pins after two games, but there was little care regarding the score. Any initial competitive spirit was replaced with an uplifting spirit for Brian’s daughter, whom the teams were pleased to have met via Facetime during the event.
With MC by Jeff Botsford, Mexican fare and refreshments, the 80-year-old landmark bowling alley, Montrose Bowl was alive with joy and camaraderie.
Hill, who has expressed the utmost gratitude for the outpouring of support, has since said Anya’s liver transplant was successful and she is recovering well.
