Experiential Father’s Day Gifts That Dad Will Love

Let’s face it: dads love doing. So why not spoil the man of the house with an experience that will last long past Sunday, June 18th? Whether he’s a car aficionado, a sucker for live music, or just overdue for a little pampering, here’s our curated list of ways to spend quality time with dad this Father’s Day.

Music on the Meadows at Terranea Resort
This annual oceanfront concert presents an afternoon filled with musical entertainment, a Farm-to-Terranea BBQ, local breweries and more. And while you’re savoring the magnificent coastal scenery, why not throw in nine holes of golf? We’re sure dad won’t mind.

The Comedy & Magic Club
Laughter is not only the best form of medicine but an incredibly enjoyable way to spend a few hours alongside dad. Treat him to not only an evening of comedy but a stand-up performance by the venerable Jay Leno who will be gracing the stage at this South Bay institution come Father’s Day.

Rodeo Drive Annual Concours d’Elegance
This annual gathering of automobiles and the car buffs who worship them has been a Father’s Day tradition for over twenty years. Named one of the “300 unmissable events & festivals around the world” by top travel publisher Frommer’s, this event parades both classic models and modern vehicles along iconic Rodeo Drive.

Arroyo Seco Music Festival
From the curators of Coachella and Stagecoach comes this Pasadena summer music festival poised to top the charts. The line-up includes musicians that Dad will not only recognize (Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Shins) but acts he secretly wants to see perform live (Mumford & Sons, Weezer, Alabama Shakes). One-day and weekend passes are still available here.

Honorable mention: If you can’t wait until the end of the month to celebrate, head over to the Greek Theater on Sunday, June 18th to see John Mellencamp perform or the Hollywood Bowl for Reggae Night with Ziggy Marley and Company.

Blind Barber
Keep dad looking handsome by paying a visit to this hip Culver City Barber Shop where a close shave, trim, or full haircut is accompanied by a stiff cocktail. If you drop by after 6 p.m. on any day other than Sunday, the rear of the shop leads into a speakeasy-style bar lounge.

Honorable mention: Deep Pocket Jean Company in Hermosa Beach (a quintessential barber shop experience lurks beyond the shelves of men’s clothing and gifts).

Quintessential Father’s Day Feast
Keep the smartphone at home and spoil dad with a celebratory meal that neither of you will forget. Los Angeles’ rich culinary landscape offers plenty of dining options; however, since you know his palate best, perhaps choose from this list of restaurants serving up Father’s Day specials.
